Albion saw two points slip away amid late drama tonight.
The Seagulls were held 2-2 at home by Reading in Barclays FA WSL as the visitors scored from a frantic goalmouth melee seconds from the end of added time.
Reading deserved reward for having dominated the second half.
But it was tough to take for the home side having come so close to a second successive home win.
Albion went behind on 15 minutes when Fara Williams’ near-post corner somehow dropped into the net.
The England legend was credited with the goal although it may well have been nudged over the line en route.
Albion responded three minutes later with a fine equaliser as Aileen Whelan headed home Kayleigh Green’s cross.
The hosts went ahead with a classic counter attack on 34 minutes after Danique Kerkdijk won possession.
Léa Le Garrec angled a clever pass in behind the defence but Ini Umotong still had a bit to do as she forced her way past a tackle and finished.
Albion, who lost skipper Dani Bowman to suspected concussion. were on the back foot for most of the second half.
Megan Walsh made a sharp save low to her left to deny Brooke Chaplen and saw both the same player and Remi Allen bounce shots over off the bar.
But Allen scrambled the ball home following a corner seconds from the final whistle.
Albion: Walsh; Barton, Williams, Kerkdijk, Gibbons; Bowman (Le Tissier 46), A.Whelan, Le Garrec (Nilden 81); Green, Umotong, Natkiel.
