Dale Stephens says it is only a matter of time before sidekick Davy Propper gets off the mark for Albion this season.

The 28-year-old midfielder has admitted he should be chipping with more goals than the one that he has managed in 87 appearances for Albion, compared to the 22 in 89 outings at PSV Eindhoven.

Stephens is hoping that Propper can get start finding the back of the net.

He said: “I hope so for Davy. I’m not so sure on the criticism that he is getting.

“I think he’s having a really good season.

“We’re playing some good stuff in the middle of the pitch and you know he probably would ideally like a few more goals, as I imagine every outfield player would do, including myself.

“But I’m sure it will come in and he will get his first one soon.”

Propper has been given the license to go forward under Graham Potter, which he struggled to last season under Chris Hughton.

He made a number of good runs at Liverpool, of which one forced Alisson into a great save to deny the Dutchman that elusive first goal of the season.

He would love it to come at the Emirates tonight as the Seagulls chase the club’s first ever away win over Arsenal.

The Gunners have already conceded 21 goals in 14 games this season and will be under pressure to get their first win in over a month in the Premier League.
