Lorent Tolaj ended his up-and-down week in style – with a winning goal in the FA Youth Cup.
The Swiss youth international struck as Albion under-18s beat Leicester City 3-2 in a lively third-round tie.
Tolaj missed from the spot as Albion exited the Leasings.com Trophy in a shootout against Newport on Tuesday.
But the fact he was playing for the under-21s showed his potential and he celebrated in style here after adding to a double strike by Stefan Vukoje.
Albion went behind in the first minute to a penalty forced and converted by Sidnei Tavares.
It was almost 2-0 to the Foxes when Roco Rees saved from the clean through Terel Pennant.
Vukoje calmly levelled from the spot on 17 minutes following a foul on Teddy Jenks.
As Albion got on top, Vukoje headed narrowly past the top corner and crossed low for Tolaj to hit the side-netting from beyond the far post.
The Seagulls went in front with a bit of style in first-half added time.
After some good build-up, a ball was played into the feet of Vukoje, who turned sharply and shot into the bottom corner.
Jack Spong had a shot held after the break and right wing-back Ayo Tanomowo joined the Albion attack to fire wide after a nice step-over.
But Leicester levelled from the tie’s third spot kick, Tavares sending Rees the wrong way after the keeper fouled him.
Ed Turns headed wide at the far post from a free-kick when he had the chance to quickly restore the home lead.
But they were back in front on 65 minutes after surviving a period of pressure, when Tolaj turned and finished well after some great work on the left by Vukoje.
It was almost 4-2 when Tolaj’s excellent first touch and acceleration opened up a chance which he fired into the side-netting - before Albion survived a late onslaiught.
They go to Derby in the fourth round.
