Neal Maupay is confident he can keep his scoring run going after netting his second goal in three days for Albion.

The 23-year-old striker bagged the winner with a good glancing header in a 2-1 win at the Emirates on Thursday.

Maupay followed it up by bringing Albion level with a great finish after getting on the end of Dale Stephens’ long ball in the 2-2 draw with Wolves.

The frontman was happy with how the week finished.

He said: “It gives us a lot of confidence because we have had a lot of big games in the last two weeks.

“We have played some top teams, so to finish this week with a win away on Thursday and a draw today (Sunday) gives us a huge boost.

“We have got a bit more than a week to recover and prepare, which is good because it is a big game on Monday (against Palace).”

Maupay revealed he only had one thought when Stephens picked him out with the long-range pass from his own half.

He said: “I just tried to shield the ball as quickly as possible because I knew if I shot quick the keeper would not have time to get ready. It was good ball from Dale and a good finish.

“But we didn’t get the win so I am a bit frustrated.

“It is a bit disappointing to concede a goal a few minutes before half-time when we had come back.

“It’s been a tough week for us so to get a point is not too bad.”

Someone who finally got off the mark this season for Albion was midfielder Davy Propper.

The Dutchman headed in Leandro Trossard’s cross to put Albion in front and Maupay felt the goal was reward for his hard work on the training ground.

He said: “We are all very happy for him (Davy) because he doesn’t score a lot.

“When we are in training he tries and he does sometimes find the back of the net.

“At that moment we all thought we were going to win the game, but it was just a bit unfortunate.”

Maupay also had a bit of altercation with Wolves’ Matt Doherty in the second half when the full-back tried to sneak ten yards at a throw in.

The striker pulled the collar of Doherty’s shirt to stop him – much to the discontent of the Wolves’ bench.

Maupay made no apologies for his action.

He said: “It was obvious the throw was in front of our bench and he took it ten yards forward.

“I had to do something as sometimes in football little details can make a big difference in the end.”
