A group of Dutch fans were in the right place at the right time at the Amex.

Their trip to Brighton during their own league’s winter break fell perfectly.

The 40 NEC Nijmegen supporters were in the East Lower, towards the southern end, to see their former player Alireza Jahanbakhsh open his Albion account in the win over Bournemouth.

Jahanbakhsh spotted them in the stand and also paid a visit to their hotel on Saturday evening, where he was presented with an NEC shirt.

A spokesman for SV NEC, the Nijemgen supporters club, told The Argus they had not expected to see Jahanbakhsh in action, adding: “We knew he didn’t play much so it was surprise.

“We had seats in front of the goal where he scored and celebrated. We had a great time."

Jahanbakhsh scored 17 league goals for NEC before opting to move on to AZ Alkmaar rather than Albion in 2015.
