Albion kicked off a new decade and 2020 with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the Amex.
Cesar Azpilicueta gave Chelsea the lead in the tenth minute when Willian’s corner was headed across goal by Kurt Zouma to Tammy Abraham, who effort was blocked and the skipper was there to tap home Aaron Mooy’s goal-line clearance.
Albion went close to getting level just before half time when Neal Maupay played the ball to Leandro Trossard, whose effort was well saved by Kepa.
The hosts went close again in the 79th minute, when Trossard’s free kick was flicked on by substitute Alireza Jahanbakhsh and fellow substitute Aaron Connolly spun and hit an effort which was well saved by Kepa.
In the 83rd minute Albion did level the game when Trossard’s corner was headed into the air and Jahanbakhsh’s superb overhead kick flew into the bottom corner.
