Albion women’s manager Hope Powell says their game against Liverpool is a big one.

The Seagulls sit tenth in the WSL with six points as they host the Reds, who are 11th in the table with three points less to their name.

Powell thinks the game will be a big one as it can have contrasting implications for Albion.

She said: “All the games are important but the story of the table suggests that is a very big game and the fact they picked up that point against Chelsea.

“If they get a result against us we are on level points with them and, if we get the result ,it pulls us further away from that danger area. There is a lot to play for.”

Liverpool have not made the best of starts to the season having picked up three points from their opening ten games in the WSL.

Despite that, Powell is wary of the threat they can cause Albion.

She said:“I think they have got a lot of experience, they are full of running and they have made some good signings like Melissa Lawley and Rachel Furness that they just signed.

“They have got players that can run with the ball at pace and work very hard, their transitional play is very quick.

“They are a good team and we will have to be at their best to get something.”

She added: “Having watched some of their games they are a very good side.

“They found a bit of form in their last game of last year, they got a good result against Chelsea and will be full of confidence given that.

“But I am definitely surprised where they are in the table and I’m sure they will be working hard to get out of the rut that they are stuck in .
