ALBION Under-23s fought back from a goal down to claim a 2-1 victory at Blackburn Rovers.

Rovers took the lead in the Premier League 2 Division 1 showdown when Jack Vale netted from the penalty spot after a second-minute foul on Stefan Mols.

The Seagulls did not take long to reply.

Peter Gwargis, their PL2 player of the month nominee for December, levelled with his third in as many league matches in the tenth minute.

Taylor Richards played a big part in the build up as he beat a couple of home players before pulling the ball back for Swede Gwargis to drill past goalkeeper Andrew Fisher.

Albion went close to going ahead six minutes after the break when Fisher denied Richards with his legs before Sam Hart prevented a Gwargis follow up.

Danny Cashman got the winner for Simon Rusk’s side in the 68th minute with a coolly-taken finish after springing the offside trap.

The striker rounded keeper Fisher and then fired home despite a covering Blackburn defender on the line.

The result was only marred by a straight red card for Jordan Davies for a foul on Sam Barnes late on.

Albion: McGill, Yapi (Radulovic 71), Cochrane, Crofts, Baluta, O’Hora, Gwargis, Jenks (Roberts 62), Cashman, Davies, Richards (Freestone 80).
