Albion suffered a 1-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

Richarlison gave Everton the lead in the 38th minute, when he got on the end of Lucas Digne’s cross, before twisting and turning and curling an effort into the bottom corner.

In the 54th minute, Leandro Trossard went within inches of drawing Albion level, when he got the ball on the left flank and cut inside before curling an effort which came off the crossbar.

In the 77th minute, Dominic Calvert-Lewin thought he had doubled Everton’s lead when he put the ball into an empty net after Michael Keane’s header had come off the crossbar.

However, VAR ruled it out for a handball by the striker as he knocked the ball in with his arm.

Substitute Glenn Murray was then superbly denied when his header from Trossard’s cross was well saved by Jordan Pickford.

Murray again went close late on when Neal Maupay played the ball into him, but he could only toe-poke his effort just inches wide of the goal.
