James Tilley's time as an Albion player last night appeared to be coming to an end.

Sources close to both Yeovil Town, where he has been on loan, and Grimsby Town expect him to sign for the latter today.

Tilley made his senior debut for the Seagulls in the Championship on the final day of the 2014-15 season, getting on for just a few seconds in the 0-0 draw at Middlesbrough.

He scored the winner at home to Barnet in the League Cup in the opening weeks of the 2017-18 campaign.

Tilley had a habit of scoring spectacular goals for the under-23s and helped them win promotion to the top flight.

But he never made the big senior breakthrough which at one stage looked within his grasp.

He has only started six National League games for the Glovers but has come off the bench 13 times. He has not scored.

Recently-appointed Grimsby boss Ian Holloway is known to be a big fan of Tilley and sees him as a key signing.

Tilley comes from Billingshurst and could be in for an early trip back to West Sussex. Grimsby visit Crawley Town in League Two a week on Saturday.
