How Albion players ratedagainst Aston Villa...

MATY RYAN 6

Not a lot to do and was secure in his footwork and on a couple of high balls but well beaten by Grealish inside his near post.

STEVEN ALZATE 7

His ease and confidence on the ball are a huge asset and was at the origin of the Albion goal as they built from deep.

ADAM WEBSTER 6

Was exposed by the Villa attack and crossfield ball which drew them level. Generally, not always, at ease on the ball.

LEWIS DUNK 6

A decent enough game without being the dominant figure we are used to. Was covering El Ghazi’s run as Villa conjured their winner.

BERNARDO 8

A good athlete who is making a strong claim to keep the left-back slot for a while. Tenacious defending and strode forward purposefully.

DALE STEPHENS 6

Better than of late, notably on the ball. Slid the pass for the Albion goal among a few nice bits of distribution.

DAVY PROPPER 7

Good on the ball and kept a wary eye on Grealish in the first half, less so in the second.

AARON MOOY 6

Will be picked out for his poor pass leading to the Villa goal but was not at his best and opted not to let fly with a good chance in the first half.

LEANDRO TROSSARD 6

There is always the chance he will do something magical and it was a very good finish to give Albion the edge but he was otherwise quiet.

NEAL MAUPAY 6

Did really well in the build-up to the goal and tested Reina late on but lacked composure and precision at other times.

AARON CONNOLLY 5

Looked like he had the pace to trouble the defence but was not sharp when balls bounced around the box.

SUBS

MARTIN MONTOYA 6

Sent on to allow Alzate to move forward but was powerless to deny Grealish the leveller.

PASCAL GROSS

Produced a couple of excellent set-pieces which might have brought the winner.

GLENN MURRAY

Looked to link things up bit no clear chances this time.
