ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER could face a potential fixtures clash after another star showing for Argentina under-23s.

Albion’s attacking midfielder is currently playing in Olympic qualifiers with his nation’s under-23s.

And his two goals in a 3-2 win over Uruguay in the early hours of Tuesday morning mean Argentina are just one victory from securing a place in Tokyo this summer.

Argentina face hosts Colombia on Friday morning and then Brazil on Monday (both 1.30am) before Mac Allister, who was recalled from his loan spell with Boca Juniors on deadline day, is scheduled to link up with the Seagulls for the first time.

Argentina’s form throws up the prospect of the 21-year-old facing a double-booking if they pick up a win in either of those games.

The Olympic football tournament runs from July 22 until the men’s gold medal match on Saturday August 8 – dates that clash with Albion’s pre-season preparations, plus the start of the 2020-21 campaign.

Colombia called Albion’s Steven Alzate up for their under-23s last year and then gave him two friendlies with the senior squad but he has been retained by the Seagulls during the qualifiers.

Excited Albion fans could get their first glimpse of Mac Allister in the blue and white stripes on February 22 when they take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Mac Allister’s double took his tally to four goals in three starts.

He scored with curling a free-kick into a bottom corner after 18 minutes.

His second, and Argentina’s 55th-minute third, was a sweet strike from outside the box.
