SIMON RUSK could be set to move into Football League management.

Albion’s under-23s manager is believed to be the frontrunner to take over at League Two Cambridge United.

Rusk, 38, has forged a strong reputation at the Seagulls for bringing through young players from the development squad.

He has previously had a spell as Albion’s first team coach during Chris Hughton’s reign.

Cambridge parted company with head coach Colin Calderwood a week ago.

Peterborough-born Rusk is understood to have been of interest to Cambridge United before Calderwood was appointed in December 2018.

Mark Bonner has been acting as the U’s interim head coach since Calderwood’s exit while the club “guarantee a thorough and detailed recruitment process, in order to make the right long-term appointment”.
