Jofra Archer has set his sights on facing the West Indies after injury ruled him out of England and IPL action.

The Sussex fast bowler will miss England's tour of Sri Lanka and the IPL after further scans on his injured right elbow confirmed a low grade stress fracture.

He will have rehab with the ECB medical team with a view to being ready for the international summer campaign, starting in June against West Indies in a three-match Test series.

Sussex supporters will be intrigued to see whether he turns out for his county as he works on and looks to prove his match fitness.

Meanwhile Sussex head coach Jason Gillespie will work the England Lions bowlers during their tour of Australia.

Although he is primarily on board to offer expert assistance to the seam attack, ECB performance director Mo Bobat hopes all the squad, which includes Sussex batsman Laurie Evans, can benefit from his expertise.

Bobat said: “I’m encouraging the whole squad and management team to make the most of Jason’s time with us, to tap into his experience and local knowledge to improve themselves as players and coaches over the coming weeks.”
