Simon Rusk watched his Albion youngsters pick up another good win this evening.
The under-23s boss has been strongly linked with the vacant manager’s post at League Two outfit Cambridge United over the last fortnight.
But he was in the technical area at Albion’s training complex at Lancing for the Premier League 2 fixture against Manchester City.
Cambridge have enjoyed a run of three wins under the caretaker command of Mark Bonner, putting a permanent appointment on hold.
Bonner has been told he will remain as interim head coach for “an undetermined period of time”.
Albion’s 2-1 win at Tottenham 12 days ago was thought at the time to have been Rusk’s last game in charge of Albion under-23s but he remains at the helm.
He saw his side beat City in Premier League 2 thanks to an own goal after Romeric Yapi drilled the ball in from the right.
Albion led in the first half through a very composed Teddy Jenks finish after some nice interplay.
They should have added to their lead before Felix Nmecha levelled on 41 minutes.
City hit the bar twice in the second half, either side of the Nathanael Ogbeta own goal which settled the contest.
