Albion would love to be awarded a penalty by the on-field referee for the first time this season.

Thje Seagulls have had just one penalty, awarded controversially by VAR at home to Everton.

An on-field referee has not pointed to the spot in their favour at the Amex since the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace almost 15 months ago.

The teams meet again at the same venue today.

Jose Izquierdo was fouled on that occasion and Glenn Murray opened the scoring.

Albion head coach Graham Potter said: “I thought we could have had a penalty at Sheffield United last week with the handball but not to be.

“It is part of the game. Maybe specifically we haven’t got too many one-versus-one dribblers who normally get you the penalties and the fouls.”

Albion felt Martin Montoya should have been awarded a spot kick when they drew 1-1 at Selhurst Park in December.

Potter said: “That was a close one as well, wasn’t it? I remember it.”
