GLENN MURRAY hopes Albion’s luck will change for the better as they chase precious points in their survival fight.

The frontman was brought on to try to break the deadlock when the game was still goalless against Crystal Palace after the Seagulls had missed a number of chances on Saturday.

A goalbound Lewis Dunk header was deflected wide off of his team-mate Neal Maupay when the sides were still level.

Jordan Ayew’s 70th-minute strike for Palace proved the difference, though, as Albion’s winless 2020 run continued.

Asked if part of the problem is Albion are not getting the rub of the green at present, the veteran frontman Murray said: “The ball has hit Neal square on the nose on the line so you look at one like that and think ‘what if?’.

“But you win some, you lose some with the luck and, hopefully, that will turn for us and we shall get a bit of luck in the run-in.”

Albion remain 15th but just one point clear of the relegation places.

They go to Champions League chasing Wolves on Saturday while they have seven of the top ten sides to play in the run-in, including Leicester, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Murray knocked back any suggestion Albion will have to find extra motivation against an in-form and high-flying Wolves.

He said: “It doesn’t matter who you play in the Premier League as any game is a difficult one.

“You have got to lift yourself for every game you compete in and that will be no different at Wolves next week.

“It will be a difficult game but we managed to get some points up there last season and, hopefully, we can do that again this year.”

And he is confident the unpredictability of the Prem will continue with Albion capable of upsetting the odds.

The striker said: “If the Premier League was that simple that you sat down and predicted all the scores, who would be interested?

“No one had us winning away at Arsenal (2-1 in December) and playing the way we did, so you just never know with this league and that’s why we love it and why we watch it.”

And a defiant Murray added: “We are still in it and you guys (the media) are talking like we are relegated already but we’re not.

“We have got plenty of points to play for and we shall be doing that.

“You just never know in this league where points are going to come from.

“You can’t predict it, which is why we like it.”
