Lewis DUNK says the point at Wolves could prove a valuable one in Albion’s fight for survival.

The Seagulls drew 0-0 with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side at Molineux.

Albion moved two points clear of the relegation zone thanks to other results going their way in contrast to the previous weekend.

Liverpool beat Bournemouth 2-1 in the early kick-off, Arsenal sunk West Ham 1-0, arch rivals Crystal Palace defeated Watford 1-0 and Sheffield United edged out Norwich by the same score as all the sides below the Seagulls at the start of the day failed to pick up a point.

If Villa do not get anything against Leicester tonight it will mean Albion have gained ground on all their rivals in the dogfight at the bottom.

And skipper Dunk says they need to use the performance against Wolves as a platform to build on.

He said: “We will see if it is a good point at the end of the weekend.

“But we worked hard out there and we got a clean sheet, which we haven’t done for a long time.

“That is a basis to work off and, as long as we do that, we will be doing all right.

“We just need to be a bit more positive at times but we are in a position now where we have got to pick up points and it is obviously going to be difficult at times.

“It was nice to get a point away from home.”

In their last two away games Albion have managed to pick up points against Wolves and Sheffield United.

Only eight teams have managed to come away from Molineux with any points this season and Dunk says that statistic highlights how well Albion did.

He said: “They are both very difficult places to go and are doing very well in the league at the right end.

“Wolves are doing very well in the Europa League as well and are a top side. It was a hard place to come but we dealt with it well.”

Albion showed a lot of fight to get points against the Wanderers and Blades but Dunk says there has not been a game where they have not given their all.

He said: “We have shown that all season.

“I don’t think there is one performance where we haven’t shown our fight or haven’t given our all.

“If we didn’t give our all then the gaffer, the management team and the playing staff would be the first to admit it and there would be words said.

“We can’t ask for more than that and if we keep doing that until the end of the season we will be okay.”

One player Albion had to deal with briefly was Adama Traore.

The 24-year-old winger came off the bench after dislocating his shoulder in the win over Tottenham in Wolves’ previous game.

However, Dunk felt Dan Burn marshalled the danger man well.

He said: “We have seen it all season. He is a monster; he is quick and he is powerful.

“He is always going to be a tough opponent, especially when you consider Dan had played 70 minutes, was blowing and then had got the quickest player in the Premier League coming on against him.

“Dan did a good job against him and he didn’t create too much.”
