Albion's Dan Burn says he would prefer not to play behind closed doors but wants the season to be completed.

Albion are currently unsure when they will next kick a football competitively with the Premier League, like other competitions across the country, suspended until at least April 3 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There have been suggestions that the remaining nine games of the season could be live on telly and played behind closed doors.

However, Burn, who has been a regular starter for head coach Graham Potter at left-back, hopes that is not the case but understands why it has to be an option.

He told Sky Sports: “From a personal point of view, it would be a bit strange. I don’t think you can really play football without the fans and that is what you want to grow up and do.

“You want to play in front of big stadiums, but obviously it is unprecedented the stuff that is happening at the minute, so you just have to do whatever the government and the Premier League thinks is best and take it from there.”

Burn added: “The only thing you could compare it with is under-23 and under-18 games where there wasn’t a lot of people there, but it was just quite eerie.

“Motivation wise it is very similar to training, so the crowd really help you with the adrenaline and to get yourself going. It feels like there is a lot more meaning behind the games.

“For us as players we want to finish the season, so we will do what needs to be done.”

Burn says the league will have to consider all the possibilities to try and complete the season.

He said: “They have got to take everything into consideration at the minute.

“I think if the season has not finished until when the next one starts then they will have to look at that, but I think they are going to have do everything that is possible to try and get the season done within reason.

“I said last week this had got a little bit out of proportion, but a few days later it has all changed loads.

“The Prime Minister has said certain things. We must be careful and go from what they advise.”
