Graham Potter believes he will be a wiser head coach thanks to a tough first season in charge.

Now he hopes to put that to good use when action returns.

The season remains on hold indefinitely due to the coronavirus crisis.

It is one month today since the Seagulls were last in action, when they drew 0-0 at Wolves on March 7.

Organising his squad through this unprecedented lay-off has been just another learning experience for Potter – on and off the pitch – in his first year as a Premier League boss.

Asked whether he will be a wiser man when next season starts, whenever that might be, he told The Argus: “Massively.

“We’ve had the games that we’ve had, we’ve had the experiences over how many months it is, the successes, the mistakes, the failures, the disappointments, the hypothesis that you have, the decisions you make.

“It’s part of the journey of what we are trying to achieve.

“We can’t short circuit, unfortunately. As much as we would all like to be sat here with more points and more wins, sometimes you have to go through these scenarios, these events.

“But I’d like to think that’s what has got me to this point, always taking those challenges on and learning from whatever mistakes you make and understanding that you haven’t got all the answers and you’re not going to be perfect and you just keep moving.”
