Eastbourne Borough want time to be called on their season.

The Vanarama National League south outfit are still in limbo with the campaign suspended indefinitely.

They have shut down the club for now and furloughed their 17 contracted players plus three off-field employees.

Chairman John Bonar said: “My personal opinion is they should stop the league now and write it off.

“You will never please everyone but at least then you have a decision and you can move on.

“It feels inappropriate to be talking about football at a time like this.

“But I believe we need a decision so clubs know where they are.

“I’d love to be to be able to talk to players and tell them where we will be next season.”

Borough’s self-employed staff, including coach Scott Chalmers-Stevens, have been laid off.

Furloughed staff will have their cash topped up by the club in the first month.

Borough have funds available to do that thanks to the well-attended home game they staged against Maidstone immediately before the season was halted.

First team boss Danny Bloor has been doing his bit on the public relations front, calling season ticket holders and fans.
