Maty Ryan has revealed his methods for surviving – and even enjoying - lockdown as he spends 14 days alone in a Sydney hotel.

The Albion goalkeeper is in quarantine after being allowed back to his home country by his club.

That means he is spending his 28th birthday today in isolation.

Ryan has used his suitcase for extra load during improvised weights sessions in his room.

The Socceroos star told Sky Sports Radio in Sydney: “If you can approach it in a positive way and continue to be optimistic, it’s not too hard.

“I’ve had a feeling since being back that I still need more hours in the day in order to do things so I am keeping pro-active.

“I’m keeping active in the room, doing some home workouts.

“I’m speaking to friends and family, looking at the property market and all these types of things.

“Watching some TV series in between so I feel like I have been quite busy.

“I am trying to embrace it for what it is, not trying to focus on negatives or anything like that.

“I make use of the time I have got and do some things I wasn’t able to do in the normal routine.”
