Albion have received an apology from a national newspaper – and a donation to their charity fund.
The club were angered by claims in the Mail On Sunday that skipper Lewis Dunk and other players had questioned the club’s stance over Project Restart.
A report claimed Dunk made direct representations to chairman Tony Bloom.
A correction published by the Mail On Sunday today said: “In fact, no such representations were made, and we accept the club's assurance that no players are unhappy with the club's position. The club and its chief executive Paul Barber have consistently supported a safe re-start and are only one of a significant majority of Premier League clubs opposed to playing on neutral grounds.
“We apologise for any suggestion otherwise.”
Albion are proud of the way they have kept players fully informed and communicated with them to check on their concerns in recent weeks.
How Albion have taken players with them through every step of the coronavirus crisis
The Mail On Sunday are making a donation to Albion As One, the player-led fund which supports charities which are struggling to raise money during the Covid-19 crisis.
