Alexis Mac Allister is ready to get his teeth into the Premier League – at long last.

The Argentinean playmaker has a smile on his face, despite a tough start to life in England.

Since arriving from Buenos Aires, he has seen the country battered by winter storms.

He was crowned a champion in his absence as the Boca Juniors colleagues he left behind secured the league title.

He had to wait for his debut as he got used to his new squad.

Then, after a promising 13-minute outing off the bench at Wolves, he saw the season put on hold and the nation placed under lockdown.

Mac Allister has greeted the improved weather by installing an Argentinian style outdoor grill at home to offer a reminder of South America.

Now he could be about to get his first taste of playing at the Amex, albeit in front of empty stands.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “He has had time in the country but he has had time in his flat, not really being able to go out.

“So he’s not really been able to integrate himself or adjust to British culture as much as he would like.

“But he’s a professional and determined guy and came back in really good shape, like the rest of the players. He’s itching to play football.

“He’s had a bit of a, I wouldn’t say ‘nightmare’, but it has been a tough introduction to life over here.

“But he’s got a smile on his face and he’s ready to go.”
