MATY RYAN 5

Tempting to think he might have got to the first goal - and maybe even the deflected second - when at his absolute best. No chance on the third and reacted well to a deflected McTominay effort.

MARTIN MONTOYA 5

Brought back at right-back for the Rashford challenge and found it a tough night, although his work looked worse a couple of times because lack of support. Was just starting to venture forward when United scored their third.

SHANE DUFFY 5

Given the expected start and, while not implicated in any of the goals conceded, had a testing night.

LEWIS DUNK 6

Was cleverly used as shield by Greenwood for the first goal, which was sent between his legs.

DAN BURN 5

Another who was struggling at times in the face of some clever United passing and movement on and off the ball.

DAVY PROPPER 4

A poor first half which saved its best until last with an excellent cross towards the far post. Can do better on the ball and was twice unaware defensively as Shaw got all the way to the byline untroubled.

DALE STEPHENS 5

Sent the first shot of the night over the bar but much of Albion’s work was about what they did off the ball. Was caught on the wrong side when Greenwood found space to open the scoring. Got more into the game as it went on.

YVES BISSOUMA 7

Largely continued his recent form. Has been one of the successes of the last few games and he is making a strong case to be the centrepiece of midfield. Just the occasional loss of concentration, such as the concession of a needless free-kick to Pogba on the edge of the box, but those have become rare of late.

TARIQ LAMPTEY 6

Given a role further forward than at Leicester which could prove to be a decent option in the future. Did not really have chance to make it work this time although he drilled over one low cross and forced a free-kick.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER 6

Disappointing with at least one set-piece but also very clever to set up a Trossard chance. Still settling in and is a competitor.

AARON CONNOLLY 6

Did about the best that could be expected in a tough solo role in the first half, forcing a couple of free-kicks with nothing else really on. Was denied that much-desired goal by De Gea’s save.

SUBS

LEANDRO TROSSARD 7

The pick of the bunch for Albion as he got into some dangerous pockets of space and took on defenders. Very close to finding both bottom corners and involved in chances for others.

NEAL MAUPAY 6

Tested De Gea with a well struck snapshot but was imprecise in possession on occasion.

AARON MOOY

Sent on late with the game settled.

BERNARDO

Took over from Dunk with the end of game 32 in sight.

SOLLY MARCH

On very late for Connolly.
