Albion remain nine points clear of the relegation zone going into round 34 of fixtures.
Aston Villa threatened to cut that gap as they battled hard at Liverpool today.
But goals from Sadio Mane and Curtis Jones in the final 20 minutes gave the new champions a 2-0 win.
Earlier, West Ham led twice at Newcastle before drawing 2-2.
The bottom four of Norwich, Bournemouth, Villa and Watford all lost this weekend.
Watford and the almost doomed Norwich are next in action when they meet at Vicarage Road on Tuesday (6pm).
On Wednesday, West Ham host Burnley (6pm) and Albion are at home to Liverpool (8.15pm).
Bournemouth look to end their slump on Thursday when they play at home to Tottenham (6pm).
That is followed on the same evening by Manchester United’s game at Villa Park (8.15pm).
