MATY RYAN 7

Seems to have the upper hand on Salah in one-on-ones and kept Albion in the game with a good block along with some decent handling of the wet ball.

TARIQ LAMPTEY 7

Again looked a threat going forward and it was a matter of time before opposite full-back Williams was booked. Was caused more problems going the other way in the second half.

ADAM WEBSTER 6

A nightmare moment when he lost possession ahead of the second goal. That was a costly but rare blemish and his good work included an important shot-block later in the first half.

The Argus:

LEWIS DUNK 7

Had a lot of work to do as Albion were exposed at times. Defended well and might have made it 2-2 from a corner just before Liverpool added their third.

DAN BURN 7

Had a golden chance to bring his side level after getting into a great position. Was bailed out once by Ryan but also got in some good work against good opponents.

DAVY PROPPER 5

Was always playing catch-up after that basic early error – not a first for him in that sort of position – which cost the opening goal.

DALE STEPHENS 6

Restored to the XI and his highlight was a great pass to send in Trossard late on.

PASCAL GROSS 7

More like the real Gross than we have seen of late. Some really clever touches and passes, notably on the goal. He is not the quickest but can add pace to attacks with his use of the ball.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER 6

Linked up play quite neatly a couple of times but is still settling in and did not make much impact.

NEAL MAUPAY 7

Might have got on the scoresheet from a Trossard cross but his evening was more about linking, running and working room for others.

LEANDRO TROSSARD 8

Is looking a real talent both out wide and more central – with more tangible end product rather than moments of skill which lead to little. Fabulous finish and movement for the goal. Still room for improvement, as shown when he spooned a late chance over.

SUBS

AARON CONNOLLY

Was busy but a goal will do him so much good.

AARON MOOY

Some decent stuff in the later stages.

YVES BISSOUMA

Took his shortened chance this time eagerly.
