MATY RYAN 5
As unconvincing as he has been in an Albion shirt. Made a bad error on the fourth City goal and might have done better on a couple of others.
MARTIN MONTOYA 4
Brought back to the starting line-up on a testing night and, after a couple of promising forward forays early on, had a really tough time against Sterling's movement.
ADAM WEBSTER 5
A difficult evening defensively, including at set-pieces, and found it hard to play out against well-organised City. A testing night was capped by his part in the unusual final goal.
LEWIS DUNK 6
Deflected a Jesus shot on to the bar and did more than anyone to try and halt the tide. One clever second-half pass deserved a quicker reaction by its intended recipient Jahanbakhsh. But even the skipper was left chasing as Sterling raced away for his hat-trick.
BERNARDO 4
Badly caught out for the second goal and found the attackers coming down his side tough to handle on his first start for more than five months. There were still a couple of good moments, notably a potentially goalsaving block of Jesus’s shot at 1-0.
DAVY PROPPER 4
His losses of possession deep in his own half are disconcerting to say the least. Got away with a couple in the first half but will be targeted by other teams looking to pick off possession.
YVES BISSOUMA 5
No doubting his endeavour but struggled to really get involved and upset City’s rhythm as they passed the ball around at will.
AARON MOOY 5
Back into the XI against his old club but another whose performance was hard to gauge as Albion never really got into the game.
LEANDRO TROSSARD 5
Had the two Albion attacking moments of note, with a flick header over and a shot across goal when he might have been better advised to set up a team-mate. Did not appear to be offering a lot of help going the other way.
PASCAL GROSS 5
A clever ball in for Trossard’s header over but his passing skills were lost in the one-way traffic.
AARON CONNOLLY 5
No doubting the tenacity but was always fighting a losing battle and was shrugged off the ball by Walker on the one occasion he caused problems.
SUBS
DALE STEPHENS: Did not do a bad job when sent on in midfield.
TARIQ LAMPTEY: Tried to spark some life into the right flank but without success.
NEAL MAUPAY: No threat this time.
ALIREZA JAHANBAKHSH: Got involved on his return to action.
DAN BURN: Not even his long legs could keep out the fifth.
