Graham Potter will tell Albion to think about more than a home hammering as they prepare to move close to safety.

The Seagulls will be safe tomorrow if they win at in-form Southampton and other results go their way.

Potter is nowhere near ready to think about that scenario at the moment.

But he will tell his players to have more than just the 5-0 home defeat by Manchester City – as rivals all won – on their minds.

Potter said: “It’s an important part of game. You can zoom into the recent game, one of the toughest games and teams in football on the back of Liverpool.

“Or you can say we’ve played six matches, got seven points, half of those games against three of the best teams in the league or Europe.

"We’ve done okay but we have to keep going.

“We can’t rely on anyone else, keep going to the end.”

Bournemouth are five points behind Albion with three games to go as they prepare to tackle Manchester City at the Etihad today (6pm).

Aston Villa, who are a point further back, will be walking off the pitch at Everton as Albion make their final preparations at St Mary’s tomorrow.

Potter said: “You can second guess and start to predict and think too much and we are not good enough to do that.”
