Sussex star Jofra Archer has been dropped by England and sent into self-isolation.

The fast bowler was ruled out of this today's second Test against the West Indies at Emirates Old Trafford after "a breach of the team's bio-secure protocols".

Archer broke rules by going home to Hove on Monday as he headed from the Ageas Bowl, where the first Test took place, to Manchester.

He has confessed to the breach.

Both teams have been living, training and sleeping in two bubble sites, at the Ageas Bowl and Emirates Old Trafford, adhering to strict health and safety procedures agreed by both boards, put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Archer has been removed from the team environment immediately.

He said: "I am extremely sorry for what I have done.

"I have put, not only myself, but the whole team and management in danger. I fully accept the consequences of my actions, and I want to sincerely apologise to everyone in the bio-secure bubble."

Archer, who had been retained for this week's game in Manchester while James Anderson and Mark Wood were rested, added: "I have put, not only myself, but the whole team and management in danger.

“I fully accept the consequences of my actions, and I want to sincerely apologise to everyone in the bio-secure bubble."

Archer will undergo two Covid-19 tests in this period.
