Albion are set to discuss the next move for Alex Cochrane and other emerging talent.

The under-23s’ left-back was called into the matchday 20 to face Newcastle in yesterday's 0-0 draw.

He is believed to be of interest to Portsmouth as a loan signing.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “He has been with us throughout this lockdown period and he has impressed.

“He has got a really good attitude, some really good qualities, we like him.

“I think he is one of two, three, four young players that we need to sit down and think about in terms of the right pathway for them.

“He is a good kid and I’ve really enjoyed working with him.”

Cochrane was called in on matchday after Bernardo reported an eye infection.

Potter said: “It swelled up a bit and he couldn’t see so we drafted Alex in just for a left-foot defensive option.”
