Graham Potter hopes Albion fans have been given a new season to look forward to.

But he declined to add to mounting excitement over the expected arrival of Adam Lallana at the club.

Lallana is understood to be closing in on a three-year deal after leaving Liverpool.

He would join a club who have recorded a best-ever Premier League points tally after yesterday’s impressive 2-1 success at Burnley took them to 15th place.

Head coach Potter said: “It’s nice to sign off with three points against a team it’s not easy to get there points against.

“It makes the little break we have got a bit nicer.

“A big thank you to the supporters for the year and for sticking with me and the team.

“Hopefully we have given them something to think about going forward and be excited about.

“It’s a first year in the Premier League for me and a lot of the players.

“There has been a lot of learning going on.

“It’s a good start but we want to improve, of course.”

Asked about Lallana, he said: “With the greatest respect I just want to speak about the guys who are at our club.

“We will use the window to try and improve if we can, find the right person and right player.”
