Albion’s tallies of 41 points and four away wins were not the only Premier League club records they set at Burnley.

They also fielded their youngest ever Prem line-up.

The team which started the 2-1 success at Turf Moor had an average age of 25 years and 43 days.

That compares to the previous lowest of 25 years and 119 days, which was set at one stage between substitutions in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on New Year’s Day.

Albion are expected to sign Adam Lallana as a free agent and, at 32, he would increase the average age of the line-up.

How Albion set the blueprint at Burnley

Longer-serving fans will be quick to point out the records only cover the Premier League seasons and not the club’s first top-flight stint between 1979 and 1983.

But it was another landmark for the current era and bodes well for next season.
