DAVID Weir says some of Albion’s loaned players from last season can compete for a spot in the starting eleven this campaign.
The pathway development manager’s comments come after several players enjoyed sparkling seasons with Football League sides.
Among them are Ben White who earned promotion with Leeds, Jayson Molumby who shone for Millwall, Matt Clarke who cemented his spot as centre-back for Derby and Christian Walton who was an ever-present for Blackburn.
Weir said: “It’s now Graham Potter’s job to assess his squad and his options, to try and see which player ticks as many boxes as possible. The lads have done their bit and I am sure a few of them will be in and around his thoughts, but not everyone can be.
“That’s why we see the benefit of the players being able to go out and get experience in other places.”
He praised players for their performances in England’s second tier saying individual development had been “very encouraging”.
