Millwall Res 1 Albion Res 1
Alex Revell is back in action and back on the goal trail.

And that will overshadow any frustration Albions Reserves will feel at dropping two Pontins Holidays Combination points at The Den.

Revell marked his first game back after a hernia operation with a close range goal in the 45th minute.

That was no more than he and his team deserved after a busy first-half display.

He was still going at the end, too, being denied right on full-time by keeper Chris Day after Ross Gaynors 81st-minute penalty had dragged the Lions level.

Revells goal came after Day had failed to hold Gary Harts header from a Sam Rents free-kick into the box.

The Seagulls had created several chances by then with Revell involved in many of their best moments.

Having shot wildly off target early on, he was more measured with a pass inside the left back which sent on-trial Michael Kamara away.

Kamara cleverly cut inside his marker and laid the ball back but Revells low shot deflected wide.

Rents, operating in central midfield, shot just wide and Revell volleyed past the post after turning on to Elders header down.

For all that, though, the Lions should have gone ahead just before Revell scored.

Kamara lost the ball just outside his own area and was relieved to see Ryan James low cross turned over the bar from point blank range by Peter Vincenti, under pressure from Kerry Mayo.

Hart almost extended the lead in spectacular style seven minutes after the break when, having switched to the right flank, he thumped an angled volley off the inside of the post from Sonny Cobbs cross.

Kamara also thought he had doubled the advantage when he headed in at a free-kick, but from an offside position.

Instead, Albion were grateful to the continuing generosity of Vincenti. The Millwall centre forward seemed certain to equalise when he was sent in behind Mayo and rounded John Sullivan.

But fatal hesitation allowed the alert Sullivan to recover and grab the ball off the strikers toes for a good save he should not have been given the opportunity to make.

Sullivan also parried an attempted lob by Gary Noel before Guy Butters was adjudged to have held Vincenti for the spot kick.

Sam Malsom, the little 20-year-old striker from Devon, found himself marked by a former Albion trialist in Brent Sancho.

Malsom curled a nice effort just wide early on but did not make a huge impact.

He had a great chance to settle the match on 89 minutes to failed to make contact with a header after Rents tempting cross had set up a great chance.

Albion Res: Sullivan; Kamara (Bryant 79), Butters, Mayo, Cobbs (Wills 68); Elder (Royce 46), Reid, Rents, Hart; Revell, Malsom. Unused subs: Crichton, Louis.

Does Alex Revell deserve to be in the squad on Saturday?
