Alex Revell believes Albion's medical team have got him fitter than ever after recovering from a second hernia operation inside a year.

The Seagulls striker came through the full 90 minutes and scored for the reserves in their 1-1 draw at Millwall yesterday.

His comeback after a four-week absence will have delighted the first team management duo of Dean Wilkins and Dean White, who were both at The Den.

Revell, who was particularly lively in the first half, admitted he was relieved to return to action after being ruled out of the past seven matches.

He said: "I'm just delighted to be back and to be honest I feel like a different player.

"I must have had my hernia for a long time and there were certain things, like pace and movement, I couldn't really get. I was stiff and sore.

"Now I feel I can do it without any pain and hopefully not have any more problems.

"We're playing well as a team so you don't want to miss games at the moment.

"But I can't help that. That's behind me now. I've had four weeks out but they've worked me hard and, hopefully, having 90 minutes was a good sign for my first game back."

Revell is full of praise for physio Malcolm Stuart and fitness coach Matt Miller but insists he will understand if they feel he is not quite ready for the squad which faces Torquay in the FA Cup on Saturday.

He added: "We'll see what happens. Hopefully I'll travel but I've had four weeks out and the boys have done magnificently well. I'll take one thing at a time."

Nathan Elder was taken off at half-time yesterday because he was feeling unwell.

Young defender Sonny Cobbs played 68 minutes and is now heading to Dorchester on loan.

Meanwhile Lee Phillips is favourite to fill a striking void for free-scoring Torquay against the Seagulls.

Like Revell, the forceful Gulls frontman came through 90 minutes in the reserves on his return from a hamstring injury and is being tipped to beat nippy Ishmel Welsh to the spot vacated by Chris Zebroksi, who has a one-game ban.
