Albion are hoping for good news on Christian Walton.

But head coach Graham Potter admitted it “looks bad” after his goalkeeper was stretchered off at the Amex.

Walton landed awkwardly on his right foot after leaping high to catch a corner during the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

He was clearly in agony and immediately called for attention.

Walton is hoping to make his Premier League breakthrough this season after making progress on loan in the Championship.

How Albion drew with Chelsea as fans returned

His injury was the one obvious black mark on a positive day on and off the pitch for Albion, who were cheered on 2,500 fans.

Potter said: “It looks bad. It looks like, as he landed, he has done something.

“It has swollen up a lot. We will have to wait.

“It was one of those unfortunate ones. He just didn’t land very well on it.”

Pascal Gross converted a 90th-minute penalty to cancel out an early goal by Timo Werner as Albion looked for an offside flag.

Neal Maupay had a penalty saved by Willy Caballero and Adam Webster headed against the bar, both while Chelsea led 1-0.

Potter used 24 players in total and was pleased with his side’s efforts.

He said: “You could see the quality of Chelsea and we played our part in the game as well.”

Davy Propper, left out of the Dutch national squad this week, missed the game with a minor Achilles problem.

Glenn Murray was not used after what Potter described as "a big week" in training.
