Peacehaven manager Mark Shutt knows the FA Cup is like a lottery in the early rounds.

Haven begin their FA Cup journey when they travel to Kent County league side Bearsted tonight.

Shutt’s side reached the semi-finals of the Sussex Senior Cup last season only to be beaten by National League South side Eastbourne Borough having got past sides above them including Lewes and Whitehawk on their way to the latter stages.

However, Shutt is unsure about getting through the qualifying rounds of the FA Cup due to the unpredictability of the sides they will face.

He said:“In an ideal world we would love to get through as many of the qualifying rounds as possible but it is such a lottery.

“When you come up against some of these teams from the Kent or Surrey league you have no idea of form with it being the first competitive game of the season and also you have not been able to watch them or scout them.”
