Albion rounded off their pre-season with a 0-0 draw against Premier League newcomers West Bromwich Albion at the Amex.

The Seagulls made two changes to the side that started the 1-1 draw with Chelsea last weekend, as Dale Stephens and Alexis Mac Allister came in for Joel Veltman and Leandro Trossard who were both on international duty.

With Tariq Lamptey also on international duty, Steven Alzate started right-wing back for Graham Potter's side.

Albion had the first chance of the game in the opening five minutes, when Adam Lallana tried to pick out Mac Allister in the box, but the West Brom defence only cleared as far as Yves Bissouma on the edge of the box and his volley went over the bar.

Neal Maupay then got his first sight of goal minutes later when he got on the end of Alzate's cross, but his effort was deflected for a corner.

Solly March looked lively down the left in the first half and he created a good chance, after he drove past West Brom full-back Darnell Furlong and then flashed a ball across goal, which was too quick for the outstretched Maupay.

The best chance of the half fell to the visitors a minute before half time, after summer signing Matheus Pereira played a one-two with Kyle Edwards, before his effort from outside the box came off the post.

At half time West Brom made the only change with Matt Phillips replacing Pereira.

Charlie Austin had the first chance of the second half as West Brom were gifted possession by Albion just outside the box and the Baggies striker fired just over the bar.

Bissouma then created space 25 yards out, but his effort was gathered by Johnstone after he had initially spilled it.

Lallana then went close for Albion with his last kick of the ball, after March picked out Maupay.

He then found the former Liverpool midfielder in the box and with only the keeper to beat he couldn't get hold of his effort and put the ball into the side netting.

With ten minutes left on the clock, March had a go from 25 yards but it went just wide of the post.
