Albion defender Joel Veltman is aware he will have to do more defending with the Seagulls than he did at Ajax.

Veltman joined Albion from the Dutch giants in July, who are used to being on the front foot and attacking in most of their games in the Eredivisie.

However, Veltman will have to get used to do more defending with Albion in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old could make his league debut tomorrow night against Chelsea at the Amex, but the Dutch defender knows that he could busy at the back this season.

He said: “I spoke with some guys over here and they said in some games you have to defend for 90 minutes.

“With Ajax, 90% of the time you have the ball and you are attacking.

“Now I will have to defend in my own 18-yard-box, which is different to what I’m used to but I’m really looking forward to it.”

Veltman could well end defending against Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi again.

He had to deal with the wide pair, when Ajax faced Chelsea in the Champions League group stages last season and he is aware of what both Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic can do.

He said: “I was playing against Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic last season in the Champions League.

“Both are great dribblers, one against one.

“Hudson-Odoi likes to make the run on the back of defenders.

“Whereas, Pulisic likes to dribble with the ball and we saw that last season.

“They are both quite similar, but Pulisic like to dribble with the ball and cut inside.
