Dean Wilkins is demanding an end to Albion's habit of leaking goals to guarantee a place alongside the Premiership giants in Sunday's FA Cup third round draw.

The Seagulls, though unbeaten in eight games, have not kept a clean sheet for nine matches.

They face a severe examination in the second round today at National Conference high-fliers Torquay United, who have scored in every fixture since their first of the season.

"That is a challenge in itself," Wilkins said. "We've done a little bit of work on the defending of the whole team during the week.

"In the last couple of weeks we have become a bit loose in that department. We have done a few reminder sessions to help shore that up and get that clean sheet that we want.

"It brings experiences for every player if you manage to get through this tie and then get a big draw like last year, when we played West Ham.

"There are the obvious financial rewards as well."

David Martot is expected to be among the Albion substitutes after missing a couple of days training with a virus similar to one which keeps Nathan Elder off the bench.

Wilkins has ended his interest in trialists Michael Kamara and Sam Malsom.
