Albion suffered defeat in the EFL Trophy as they were beaten 2-0 by League One side AFC Wimbledon at the People’s Pension Stadium.

Wimbledon went ahead in the 20th minute, as Paul Osew got past Sam Packham and stood up a cross for Zach Robinson, whose downward header went in, despite Carl Rushworth’s best attempts to keep it out.

Adam Roscrow had an effort from inside the box, which was well saved by Rushworth.

Roscrow then went within inches of making it two, after he glanced Jaakko Oksanen’s corner onto the bar.

Danny Cashman had Albion’s best chance of the game, after he got on the end of Packham’s cross, but his effort was well saved by Nikola Tzanev.

Wimbledon then got a penalty in the last ten minutes after substitute Ethan Chislett was fouled by Jack Spong.

Roscrow finally got the goal he deserved, as he stepped up and put the ball into the bottom left corner, despite Rushworth going the right way.

Roscrow went close late on after his header went wide of the post.
