In-form Alireza Jahanbakhsh is pushing for a Premier League start.

The Iran international scored another Carabao Cup cracker last night.

His goal and a fine finish from Alexis Mac Allister - also his second cup goal in as many games - secured a 2-0 third-round win at Preston.

Albion were well worth the win and will face Manchester United at the Amex in round four next week.

Jahanbakhsh fired home an emphatic finish to add to his strike versus Portsmouth last week.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “He did so well against Portsmouth and was really close to the starting XI against Newcastle but we decided to go with Aaron (Connolly) and Neal(Maupay).

“He is in a really good moment. His goal is a fantastic strike, a fantastic finish.

“He has got that ability to get one out of nowhere. We were really pleased with him.”

Potter was delighted with a team display which saw youngsters Max Sanders, on his full debut, and Haydon Roberts make starts.
