Graham Potter has options to replace the banned Yves Bissouma - despite letting Dale Stephens go.

With Bissouma serving a three-match ban, Stephens would have appeared a natural to start in midfield against Manchester United.

Davy Propper is now the more obvious choice for a midfield berth alongside Steven Alzate.

Alzate and Bissouma have forged an effective partnership in a 3-4-3 set-up, allowing Albion to start with an attacking three as well as getting their wing-backs well forward.

But Potter is known for being inventive so maybe it will not be that simple.

DAVY PROPPER

The Argus:

The Netherlands international has been a regular in midfield throughout Albion’s Premier League years.

He was troubled by an Achilles issue in pre-season but has come through two Carabao Cup ties, versus Portsmouth and Preston.

His 90 minutes at Deepdale can be interpreted in two way – tuning up for the United game or getting a full game because he would not be starting tomorrow.

Either way, he is a sound option.

JAYSON MOLUMBY

The Argus:

A Premier League debut for the young Irishman would be seen as a big call by the Albion boss – but cannot be ruled out.

Molumby shone in the Championship with Millwall last season and it looks like he might have a part to play with Albion this term rather than going back out.

He was kept out of the midweek tie at Deepdale.

Asked why that was, Potter replied on Wednesday evening: “Just precautionary for the weekend, we decided to leave him tonight.”

It must be stressed that does not mean necessarily he would start but was a clear indication of where the priority lay for the 21-year-old.

One of the questions in Potter’s pre-match press conference yesterday took things a step further and suggested a debut.

Potter replied: “I think people have put two and two together a little because he wasn’t involved against Preston.

“We will make the selection based on tomorrow (today’s training session) and think about what we need to do for the game.”

A big call? Only if Potter makes it when he is not as sure as he can be Molumby is ready. And that won’t happen.

BEN WHITE

The Argus:

Now this woud be intriguing. He played in midfield at times for Leeds last season and could conceivably move forward with Joel Veltman or Dan Burn coming into the back three.

ADAM LALLANA

The experienced midfielder dropped in there when Bissouma was sent off at Newcastle so would be another option.

CHANGE OF SHAPE

Potter could move away from his 3-4-3 and opt for a back four. That would still require a central midfielder to come in alongside Alzate but it would change the dynamic of the position and the decision the boss is making.
