Max Sanders and Haydon Roberts are having a ball in the Carabao Cup.

The emerging midfielder and defender could feature again tonight against Manchester United.

Both started the third-round win at Preston North End last week.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “They really want to play and show what they can do.

“It is a step up from the football they have been playing at under-23 level and, in Max’s case, League One (on loan at AFC Wimbledon last season).

“It is good to have that and good to be in our group and mix with the more first team players we have.

“They performed well (at Preston). We were pleased with them and also pleased with the rest of the group.

“The Preston match was a good game for us. It was a really competitive game against a good team away from home against a team that was trying hard to win.

“We had to fight and battle and do a lot of things that has to happen in football. For them to come through was really positive. I’m delighted with that.”

Potter does not envisage wholesale changes to the side which started at Deepdale.

He added: “We will have a think in terms of the squad but it will be quite close to the Preston squad but with a few other options maybe.”

Alexis Mac Allister has recovered from a minor problem and is available having trained this week.
