Danny Briggs has left Sussex to join Warwickshire after rejecting a new deal at the club.

Briggs contract was up at the end of this season.

The 29-year-old spinner joined Sussex from Hampshire back in 2016.

In his 130 appearances for Sussex across all formats, Briggs took 169 wickets and scored 926 runs.

He also captained the Sharks twice during the 2018 Vitality Blast.

Sussex's performance director Keith Greenfield said: “We are all disappointed that Danny will be leaving the Club, and not signing the multi-year contract extension that was offered to him in these challenging financial times for cricket and Sussex.

“We couldn’t have done anymore in this respect. Danny feels at this time joining another County is in his best interests, and we have to respect his decision.

“This summer has been a very difficult one for the club, but also for all players who have been on the last year of contracts with all the insecurity that it brings.

“We thank him for all his efforts and can only wish him well going forward with his new adventure.”
