Alexis Mac Allister is NOT expected to make Argentina’s first line-up of the new World Cup qualifying campaign.

That is despite a selection headache for his boss on the left-hand side.

But the Albion man could play some part after first-choice Gio Lo Celso pulled out of the opening fixture.

Mac Allister often operated coming in off the left for Boca Juniors in the Argentinian league.

He has been training with Lionel Scaloni’s squad ahead of their two forthcoming games.

Marcos Acuña and Exequiel Palacios are thought to be leading candidates for a start.

Mac Allister could come off the bench against Ecuador in La Bombonera, which was his home ground with Boca.

Paulo Dybala is also ruled out.

Lionel Messi is available to lead the Argentina side.

Mac Allister has not played in the Premier League this season but was on the bench for the latest match at Everton.

Argentina’s second match, against Bolivia at altitude in La Paz, will finish at about 11pm on Tuesday, our time.

That game could give Mac Allister his best chance of action.

There is an argument his dead ball prowess and strong physical condition could work in his favour for a match which will be played 3,600 metres above sea level.
