Adam Lallana has revealed it will take “a little bit of time” to get up to full power.

But he is delighted with the support he is enjoying from head coach Graham Potter as he eases his way into a first season with Albion.

Lallana produced his best – and longest – performance yet for the Seagulls in the unfortunate 3-2 defeat to Manchester United, which he left after the 70-minute mark.

He was on the bench at Everton last Saturday, as he had been in the previous away fixture at Newcastle when he did an efectrrive job in helping close the game out.

Lallana has featured in every league game after the rather worrying sight of seeing him depart before the interval in his debut at home to Chelsea.

The former Liverpool man said: “I played against Manchester United and felt great and then it would have been nice to play the week after against Everton.

“But it took me a while to recover from the United game because it was my longest time on the pitch for seven or eight months.

“It’s going to take a little bit of time, but the manager has been fantastic.

"I want to train and play as much as I can, but he has helped me and said I’m here for the long-term.”

Potter recently told The Argus that Lallana was one of the players with whom Albion were taking care in their early season workload in training.

Joel Veltman and Steven Alzate were others after long periods without matches.

Lallana told brightonandhovealbion.com: “I feel I can still have an impact around the group, even when I’m not playing.

“The manager said I’m such a fit lad and that I don’t always have to do more work.

“It’s about doing what’s right for me and sometimes less is more.

“He has been superb and hasn’t made me feel guilty about perhaps not doing so much as everyone else because I am at a different stage of my career.”
