Albion defender Haydon Roberts has signed a new three-year deal, which will keep him on the South Coast until June 2023.
And the 18-year-old will now go out on loan to League One side Rochdale in a move which was completed before Friday's domestic transfer deadline.
Roberts had been training with the first team since lockdown.
He had only featured for Albion this season in the Carabao Cup coming on as a substitute in the 4-0 win over Portsmouth in the second round at the Amex.
Roberts then started the 2-0 win away at Preston in the third round.
Albion technical director Dan Ashworth said: “This is a great opportunity for Haydon to go and play regular football at a relatively young age.
“He has been on the fringes of our first team for a while, and regularly trains with Graham Potter and the senior players.
“He has demonstrated his undoubted potential in the cup matches he has played this season and last, and now has an appetite to play regular senior football.
“This move is one which is ideal for his development and we feel will really benefit him."
