Albion may not have over 20 players on loan again like last season.

However, there are still 14 players out at clubs across Europe and this is how they got on over the weekend:

Viktor Gyokeres (Swansea):

Gyokeres made his first start for Swansea in their 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield.

The Swedish forward played 62 minutes in the defeat.

And speaking to the Swansea’s club website, Gyokeres admitted he needs to take his chances.

He said: “Obviously it was a good feeling to get my first start, but that feeling would have been better if we had got the three points.

“I want to play, I’ve had no problem settling in here, and I want to help the team when I do. I need to make the most of my opportunities.”

Despite the scoreline, Swansea did have chances to win the game before Josh Koroma’s winner for the Terriers.

However, Gyokeres admits himself and his teammates were made to pay for not being clinical in front of goal.

He said: “We didn’t take our chances, even though we were attacking quite well.

“We made a few mistakes. They scored in the first half, but we came back.

“They then got the second goal at a time when it looked like we were going to get it instead.

Swansea will be hoping to bounce back from that defeat tonight when they travel to Coventry.

And Gyokeres believes the Swans are more than capable getting back to winning way.

He said: “We have to aim to bounce back on Tuesday, and I think we are more than capable of doing that with the players and the quality we have.”

Shane Duffy (Celtic):

The Argus:

The defender got his first taste of the Old Firm derby on Saturday, in Celtic’s 2-0 defeat to Rangers.

Duffy’s former Albion teammate Connor Goldson scored a brace as Rangers moved four clear of Celtic at the top of Scottish Premiership.

After the game, Duffy took to Instagram with the following message.

He wrote: “Big and ugly enough to accept that today (Saturday) we weren’t good enough from me personally and the team overall. “It hurts today personally in such an important game for me to not play well and lose my first Old Firm game. I can only apologise to the fans for today it really hurts at the minute.”

Glenn Murray (Watford):

Murray got a very brief run-out for Watford on Friday night as they beat Derby 1-0 at Pride Park.

The 37-year-old striker came on in the 86th minute to help hold the ball up top and see the game out.

Matthew Clarke (Derby):

Clarke played the full 90 minutes for Derby as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Watford.

Derby will be hoping to bounce back from that defeat tonight as they travel to Huddersfield.

Leo Ostigard (Coventry):

Ostigard was an unused substitute for Coventry in their 2-0 defeat away to Brentford.

He will be hoping to be involved when they host Swansea, where he could come up against Gyokeres.

Taylor Richards (Doncaster):

Richards came off the bench in the 64th minute as Doncaster secured a 1-0 win away at Portsmouth.

Doncaster currently sit seventh in League and will be hoping to keep up their good form when they host leaders Ipswich tonight.

Warren O’Hora (MK Dons):

O’Hora was an unused subtitute for MK Dons as they won 2-0 against Gillingham.

They are back in action tonight as they travel to bottom place Oxford United.

Ryan Longman (AFC Wimbledon):

The striker played 84 minutes, before being substituted for Wimbledon in their 1-0 defeat at home to Shrewsbury.

They will be hoping to get back to winnings ways tonight when they travel to high-flying Hull City.

Roco Rees (Worthing):

The goalkeeper helped the Rebels to maintain their lead at the top of the PitchingIn Isthmian Premier in their 3-1 win at Margate Rees made some good saves to deny Margate and was only denied a clean sheet by a penalty, which he could not keep out.

Percy Tau (Anderlecht):

Tau played 90 minutes for the Belgian giants in their 2-2 draw against OH Leuven, before being substituted.

The South African forward had put Anderlecht 2-0 up, before Leuven scored two in the second half to get a point.

Alex Cochrane (Union St-Gilloise):

Cochrane was an unused substitute in St-Gilloise’s 2-0 win over Lierse Kempenzonen.

Tudor Baluta(Dynamo Kiev):

Baluta was not in the Kiev squad for their 1-1 draw against Rukh Vynnyky.

They are in Champions League action tonight as they face Juventus.

Jakub Moder (Lech Poznan):

The 21-year-old Polish international played the full 90 for Poznan as they lost 2-1 to Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Moder scored a penalty in the 82nd minute, but it was not enough to stop Poznan tasting defeat.

Michal Karbownik (Legia Warsaw):

Karbownik played 85 minutes for Warsaw in their 2-1 win at home to Zaglebie Lubin.

The win moved them above Moder into seventh place in the league.
